Sequoia National Park was granted designation in 1890, the 2nd of America's National Parks. Located in California's Sierra Nevada mountains, the park is known for its Giant Forest of sequoias, including the General Sherman - the world's largest known living tree by volume. The park is also home to Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain peak in the contiguous 48 states.
