Crater Lake

Located in the Cascade Mountains of southern Oregon, Crater Lake was formed by the collapse of a 12,000-foot volcano known as Mount Mazama during an enormous eruption approximately 7,700 years ago. The depth of the lake is 1,943 feet at its deepest, making it the deepest lake in the U.S. and the 9th deepest lake worldwide.
